As some of you may know, in the past week I have been in the bright sunny country of Spain. Whilst I was there I got to do some thinking about this story. And one point I greatly thought about, as the title suggests, is the spotted cloud cat.
What is the spotted cloud cat? I hear you ask. (Well, not really, unless you personally come and shout down my ear). Its a creature I have invented for this world which still needs a name (Ideas Please!!) and It's hopefully something my character Andrew will meet in his adventure. Other creatures can be made up later, but this one's mine. So some of the info I've got so far is this:
The spotted cloud cat looks similar to a cheetah, but has pointed, tufted ears and a slightly longer snout. However, its most notable feature is the large pair of wings that enable it to fly. These wings are coloured differently between males and females, the males having a mix of dark and tawny brown feathers and the females a paler brown.
Spotted cloud cats are sentient creatures, they are self aware and very intelligent. They have their own communities and hierachies, and in some ways their lives are very similar to our human social lives. They even have their own royalty, and have lots of pride and honour.
Basically, they are intelligent creature with their own personalities, traits and weaknesses, and are similar to humans in their social life but cats in their habits, appearance and other ways. Seeing as Andrew is a shapeshifter and all he can converse with them, and they would make an interesting character.

New ideas
Right, I want to get some idea's down before I forget all of them. I'm going to start with my ideas for Andrew, then talk more about the story and about this world they travel to.
So, my ideas about Andrew. First, I'd like to make a sort of list I have of the sort of things Andrew can do. His powers, of course, are shapeshifting and Prophecy. But there are several things this entails, so here's my list:
Next, I want to put forward my idea for the darkness thing. I've been thinking about it, and know I can imagine some sort of evil tyrant, who has taken over a kingdom and is mistreating it. This dark king is some sort of sorcerer that fell into necromancy and is now being controlled by evil spirits. He has lived unnaturally long, and had lasted for the last couple of hundred years since the guys with powers were overthrown.
The last thing I'm going to talk about is this world. I think that if we're going to just send off our characters there we need to know more about it. First, we need a name. Can you see if you can think of any good ones? And we need to think more about how this world works, like whats its currency, livelihoods and lifestyles like. One thing I have done today (besides homework) is create this map:
I've decided to expand on my original idea, which I posted in an earlier post, and add some more detail. I thought maybe you could land in the lake over on the right, whilst I land near the bottom in the town at the edge of the forest. Then, we both travel across the country to find someone who knows what to do,, and both get the same answer, to travel to a place up in the top left corner of the map. I've named it fortunes place. Talking of names, you'll see I haven't named all the towns yet, so any ideas are great! And I thought that maybe the whole land is split into two kingdoms: The dark kingdom which includes all of those towns by the sea, and the trapped kingdom that controls the east but is under the power of the dark kingdom and that evil king. I thought this would be a useful way of gaining an army to fight against the evil.
Okay, I said that was the last thing but I have one more thing to say. Its this fire and ice thing. I said it symbolises two opposites, which would be Andrew and Jade. One could be fire and one could be ice. But it could also be within both of them. Andrew seems quite cool and calm most of the time, so that shows ice. But inside he can be wild, confident, and angry, and maybe a bit ruthless, like fire. Then with Jade, I imagine (I don't want to mess with your character much), could be confident, loud and noticable, so fiery, but inside she can be very cool and logical like ice. It would be an intersting concept.
Thats all I wanted to say. Comment on what you think of my ideas!
So, my ideas about Andrew. First, I'd like to make a sort of list I have of the sort of things Andrew can do. His powers, of course, are shapeshifting and Prophecy. But there are several things this entails, so here's my list:
- Good hearing/sight/smell
- Shapeshifting (obviously)
- Seeing the future (Another obvious one)
- Strength (Not super or anything, but he gets slightly stronger than a normal person. This can apply to Jade too)
- Telepathy (A general power. Jade should have it as well)
- Immune to most illness (General as well, so add something about never being sick before)
- Seeing though other animals eyes (This is one I though up today. Its to do with being close to nature and that telepathy. It just means that he can see through animals eyes to get a different perspective)
- Strong instincts (Connected to the Prophecy and Animal thing. Though not actually predicting the future, he will feel when something is wrong.)
- Technically, flying (This is only because later in the book he will be able to shift into a bird as well.)

A quick update
Okay, so I'm writing this post to give an update on how my writings going and share the idea's I've had so far on it.
At the moment I am starting Chapter Four. Not too sure on whats happening in this chapter but mostly it will be about Andrew's and other's views of the events of Chapter Three. I'm trying to build up the inspiration to write it at the moment so if you can help, let me know.
As a recap to what has happened, Andrew has met a creepy guy at a busstop. Then it skips to his Birthday. Its a school day, so he catches the bus. There he winds up a bully named Ian. Afterwards he has a swimming lesson, when he collapses in a fit. He then predicts "Don't go into the water" to a girl named Jenny, who dives into a swimming pool and is knocked unconscious. So he's pretty shocked.
That's a bit of an update then. I'll try and give more info in the future.

Who is Andrew? Part 2.
Ok, this is the post that continues with my story. I ended it with Andrew and Erin travelling into the other world. When Andrew lands he is unconscious, and has landed in a pile of hay (lucky for him). he is conscious long enough to see a blurred figure approach him, then he blacks out.
When he wakes up he is in a bed. A girl is with him, and says her name is Tia. She also says they are in the town of Triesta. Andrew had been out all night and Tia is dying to know who he was. when he wakes up, she questions him, but he says that he doesn't remember how he got there. She agrees to take him to some wiseman up in the mountain tribes that she'd heard of. They would need to travel through the forest up to the mountains.
Tia wants to get away herself. she has no family, but works as a servant under the innkeeper. She wants to get away, so happily agrees to show him the way. They sneak away, and journey into the forest. Andrew still can't change at will, but he feels he comes close whilst he's there. Tia shows him how to hunt, and he's a quick learner.
But during their first night in the forest, they are surrounded by a gang of wild men named the hunters. They are dragged away to their camp, but the fear causes Andrew to again become a wolf. The hunters are surprised, as is Tia, but they know of the stories and guess who he is. They decide they must help, but tell of the dark beasts that roam the forests now. It is decided that they must take the longer route, travelling past the Lustrig town and down the river acorn. They send two hunters to accompany them, then send them from the camp.
So the four of them travel towards Lustrig. They are dropped at the end of the forest, and Andrew and Tia move into the town. They find an inn to stay in, and walk out to see the town. They find some food and some stuff for travelling, then wander.
Unfortunately, Andrew falls into a fit, and starts to see another prophecy. When he comes too, Tia is urging him to move, and the towns soldiers are after them. They flee the city, heading towards Long-stead. They turn off towards Bridgeway, hoping to cross the river.
Soon they meet up with Erin. She had, after arriving 4 days after Andrew, landed in the same town. Not really able to understand the locals, and with no idea where Andrew had travelled to, she heads up the coast to the city. There she hears tales of a boy and a girl crossing the country, and were last seen in the town near the forest. She starts heading that way, and surprises them on the path. This causes Andrew to change again, revealin his secret to erin. Together they flee whatever would chase them.
But the darkness that rules won't let them go easily, and sends out a monsterous shadow beast to destroy them. They run to Bridgeway, but as they near it the beast catches up. They head up stream, hoping to cross the water, but it seems impossible.
Then, for one tremendous moment, Andrew feels all his power well up in him, and he lets it out. He becomes a wolf, but is faster, stronger. He attacks the creature, and seriously injures it. It crumbles to dust, and Andrew changes back, dizzy.
Then the threesome travel up to the mountain tribes. They find the wiseman, and find out what Andrew's prophecy means. It meant that another was coming. They are also told that the thing they killed was not yet dead, just banished. It is foretold that the two will come together to overthrow evil.
Thats basically how my story goes. Of course, I'll change it as I go along, and add more to it. There will be more about Andrews relationships between Tia and Erin. Looking at it, I can see that andrew will have some severe girl trouble. He's surrounded by three of them, so that will give him a rocky relationship. Could be interesting. How is your story going to go? Can you comment on mine please? Don't worry about names of towns or anything, they can be changed later.

Who is Andrew? Part 1.
I'm writing this post to describe the journey that Andrew goes on. Of course, it starts at home. Andrew is an only child, adopted from an early age by a kind woman and her quiet husband. He never knew his parents, who had died when he was a toddler.
At the start of the story he has no idea that he is some magical being from another world. It just been his birthday, which is a Saturday, and returns to school on the Monday where we first meet his best friend, Erin. He goes to school, but seems off colour, keeps getting headaches and dizziness.
Then his Adoptive mother dies. Andrew loved his mum, and is devastated when she dies. And whilst curled up in grief he feels something change inside of him. But he doesn't realise exactly what it means.
Then he notices little changes about himself. He can hear better than normal, and one night attacks the wires in his bedroom without thinking to shut up the static noise. He can smell better too, and at one point is overwhelmed by smells. His dreams change, and he finds himself dreaming of things going to happen. One day he predicts a girls death.
Then stuff gets even weirder. When confronted by bullies, he swipes out and scratches across one boys face, like an animal. At a fair he attacks a rabbit. One night he goes into a fit and howls at the moon. the final sign is the voices that start in his head, other peoples thoughts.
But he has a phone number, given to him by an old man who predicted this would happen. They arrange to meet up the next weekend.
But that night the darkness seeks him out. He is confronted with a shadowy beast, and runs. That is when he makes his first full change into a wolf. He runs into the forest then around to his friend Erin's house. When he reaches there he collapses, and changes back. He meets up with Erin and, without revealing the truth, gets her help in finding the old man.
When they reach his door, Andrew falls into a fit, and dreams a new prophecy. Erin pulls him over the doorstep, and with the old man she writes down the prophecy (Its the prophecy in my other post by the way.) Erin finds out the mans name is Remi, and together they wait for Andrew to wake up.
When he does, Andrew talks privately to Remi, and finds out that he is a shape shifter as well (Into a stag), and also his grandfather. They talk about the other world and the prophecy Andrew just made. He decides that he must travel to that world to stop the darkness. As he can't return home, he gathers a few things and readies himself to go. Remi puts a translation spell on him, and then pushes him across the void. When he wakes up he has crossed to the other world.
Unfortunately, Erin has no idea what is going on. She talks to the old man, and though she can't get any straight answers, she agrees to go across and help him, but as the timing is different she is four days behind him.
That's all I'll write right now. That's the end of Part one. I'll post part two tomorrow.

Time for a history lesson...
Wait! I know what your thinking. Don't worry, I just want to go over what I've been thinking about the history of our made up world.
It all begins 1000's of years ago (Their time. Remember, time there is flowing faster than out time, so here its only been years.) when the other world was filled with mystic beings, as well as the normal homo sapiens. Similar to us, they shared a connection to our world. However, these people had powers, like Telekinesis, shapeshifting, predicting the future, controlling the weather, Invisibility and Diviners. Each had two different powers, as well as telepathy, so they could communicate between each other.
So you get the idea. Well, as these guys are connected to our world, they travelled through, creating legends like the Greek gods, oracles, sorcerers and others. Back then the time flowed parallel to each other, so neither was faster.
Of course, this sort of living couldn't last forever. An evil sorcerer from the far North (see my picture above) came and attack, with a load of evil darkness. He destroyed the land, which was a peaceful paradise, and murdered everyone with powers. (That's everybody with powers were murdered, not he killed them with powers.) No-one could escape.
Ok, I lie. A total of 5 people escape, over into our world. That Jade, age 2, Andrew, age 1, Jades Dad (her mum died fighting) and Andrews mum and dad. Unfortunately the darkness followed them and has been tracking them ever since.
That's the story. Don't worry, the darkness won't catch them for 13 years, which is... now. Oops.
What do you think?
